Future Islands, Simon Says No and Bloodgroup

A Future Islands set is a collapsing star that easily vacuums up anyone nearby into its pulsating grooves and soaring melodies provided by deformed and distorted instruments. No less gnarled is singer Sam Herring's voice, naturally raspy, gutteral, but pitch-perfect and delivered with flare. Pitchfork said of the group, "Their music is playful but steeped in subtle detail, with both emotional heft and a pungent sense of theatricality.... Drawing from a few different traditions while making them their own, Future Islands prove here to be a well-versed group of wild, woolly storytellers."
